We looked at when QPR supporters will find out which of their team's games have been selected for television coverage by Sky Sports.

With new head coach Julien Stephan now officially in place, excitement is building for the start of the new season at Queens Park Rangers.

After flirting with relegation at various points in the campaign, QPR finished 15th in the Championship last season, but they placed head coach Marti Cifuentes on gardening leave ahead of the final game after his representatives reportedly held talks with West Bromwich Albion over their vacant managerial position.

It was later revealed that Cifuentes was not on the Baggies' short list to replace Tony Mowbray, but there was no way back for him at Loftus Road, and after his departure was confirmed on Tuesday night, the R's appointed former Rennes and Strasbourg manager Julien Stephan as his replacement.

Despite the managerial uncertainty, the Hoops have managed to tie a number of players down to new contracts this summer, including Joe Walsh, Murphy Cooper, Steve Cook, Jimmy Dunne, Sam Field and Michael Frey, while they have beaten Watford, Preston North End and Charlton Athletic to the signing of Reading defender Amadou Mbengue.

QPR are also expected to complete a deal worth at least £900,000 plus add-ons for Peterborough United winger Kwame Poku, who has previously been linked with Birmingham City, Ipswich Town, Swansea City and Rangers, and should the rest of their summer transfer business be of a similar standard, they could be one of the teams to watch in the Championship next season.

The fixtures for the 2025-26 season were released on Thursday, meaning R's supporters can now start to plan their weekend and midweek trips for the upcoming campaign, but they will also be waiting to see which games will be moved for Sky Sports coverage.

As the Stephan era gets underway, QPR will begin their season at home to Preston North End, who only narrowly avoided relegation from the Championship last term, while they will also travel to Watford and Coventry City and welcome newly-promoted Charlton Athletic to Loftus Road in the opening month of the campaign.

Among some of the other notable dates, the R's will make the trip to Fratton Park to face Portsmouth on Boxing Day, while they will host Norwich City on New Year's Day, and they will end the season with a tough game against Ipswich Town at Portman Road on the final day.

The release of the fixtures means that Hoops supporters can now begin to fill their football calendar for the year ahead, but the new Sky Sports TV deal, which came into effect last season, means that the broadcaster will show each EFL club more than 20 times during the campaign, which can result in plenty of changes to kick-off times.

Supporters of Championship, League One and League Two clubs often bemoaned the late notice given about such alterations last season, while the movement of fixtures away from the traditional Saturday 3pm slot also caused frustration among fan bases from up and down the country.

Sky Sports have also revealed that all televised fixtures up until the FA Cup third round, which takes place on the weekend of the 10th January, will be confirmed before the start of the new season in what they describe as a "landmark commitment" to give supporters almost six months notice of any changes.

QPR will benefit financially from Sky Sports TV deal

While the increased notice period will do little to ease the disappointment of QPR supporters if their fixtures are moved to awkward kick-off times, it will at least give them a better opportunity to plan their schedule during the upcoming season.

The Sky Sports TV deal may have been greeted with a mixed reaction from supporters, but it is certainly a lucrative agreement, with guaranteed payments of £895 million, plus a further £40 million in marketing benefits.

According to WalesOnline, every Championship club will earn around £3 million to £4 million per season from the deal, as well as receiving between £500,000 and £1.5 million for each individual game that is selected for broadcast.

QPR were chosen for Sky Sports coverage 27 times last season, so the club will have landed a significant windfall from those games, and if they perform well under Stephan next term, they could be a popular pick once again.
