Bayern have lost just twice all season, whilst taking vital points off Leverkusen in their two draws. It's going to take a real collapse for them to let Bayer back in between now and the end of the season. Nevertheless, Vincent Kompany's side still have to face European hopefuls in the form of Leipzig and Gladbach - teams who have caused them issues in recent years.

Victory at home to the 05ers on Matchday 31 - Thomas Müller's 500th Bundesliga appearance - wasn't enough to clinch the title with three matches left, as Leverkusen took care of business at home to Augsburg. Still eight points clear of Leverkusen but now with just three matches left to play, Bayern could well stitch up the title with a win on their Matchday 32 trip to Leipzig, irrespective of how Leverkusen fare.

However the two contenders perform over the next three matches, Bayern will have a sizeable advantage in terms of goal-difference (+61 compared to Leverkusen's +31) should they end up tied on points.

Despite Florian Wirtz's returning from a five-week injury break, Leverkusen have been unable to pile the pressure on Bayern as they were held at home by Union before drawing away to St. Pauli. With their title defence hanging by a thread, all Xabi Alonso and Co. can do is win their remaining games against teams who also still have plenty to play for - and hope for favours elsewhere - if they are to have a chance of retaining the title.

It would take an incredible and unprecedented turn of events for Leverkusen to claim the title at this stage, but last term's domestic double-winners have already shown they know how to rewrite the history books...
