New season just over five weeks for clubs in League One and League Two
The 72 clubs in the English Football League will be eagerly awaiting the release of the fixtures for the 2025-26 season.
The start of the new campaign is barely five weeks away for clubs in League One and League Two, and only slightly longer for those in the Championship, and the excitement will build as fans of teams in the EFL can begin mapping out the season.
Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton will all be looking to secure an immediate return to the Premier League, while Wrexham are sure to attract plenty of attention after last season’s promotion from League One left them within touching distance of the top-flight.
In the third tier, Luton must avoid slipping further down the divisions after back-to-back relegations, with Plymouth and Cardiff also having to adjust to life in League One.
Barnet and Oldham are back in the football league after last season’s promotion to League Two, replacing Carlisle and Morecambe.
The EFL will release the fixtures for the 2025-26 campaign on Thursday, June 26, 2025.
The official reveal for the matches is set for 12pm BST.
The Championship kicks off across the weekend of August 9-10, with League One and League Two getting underway a week earlier on August 2-3.
For the 24 Championship clubs, the 46 league matches will be played across 33 weekends, nine midweeks and four bank holidays.
There are only five midweek sets of fixtures scheduled for League One and League Two clubs.
The final games of the regular season will be played on May 2-3, before the play-offs then begin.
