The Whites will be aiming to bridge a gap that appears to be widening season-upon-season between promoted second tier sides and established Premier League teams, which sealed the fate of Ipswich Town, Southampton and Leicester City during this campaign.

Leeds, along with Burnley and Sunderland, will be hopeful of avoiding an immediate drop back to the Championship, with significant amounts of financial spending required in order to be successful in England’s elite division over the long-term.

One player who is set to move on from Elland Road is forward Patrick Bamford, who has completed an eighth season in Yorkshire.

However, after multiple injury troubles and failing to find the back of the net in 17 league appearances this term, Bamford’s time as a Leeds player could be coming to an end.

With the frontman linked with a move to promoted Wrexham this summer and having only one year remaining on his current contract, Football League World takes a look at Bamford’s latest comments about his future.

As Patrick Bamford’s future at Leeds United remains up in the air, the 31-year-old revealed he may consider a move overseas to the United States to round off the latter stages of his playing career.

Speaking to CBS Golazo, Bamford said that he could be open to a move to Major League Soccer.

Bamford said: "In terms of playing abroad, America was one of the options. When I was younger, it was something I always wanted to do at some point in my career, to experience a new country, to live the lifestyle there and to try myself in a new league."

He also told them that he had spoken to his family about this potential move, but that he just "doesn't know when" it might happen at this moment in time.

Meanwhile, speaking on Fozcast – The Ben Foster Podcast, Patrick Bamford revealed the length of time he believes he has left in his career, admitting he feels he can still play football at a high standard for the next five years.

Bamford said: “I'd like to play for as long as one, I still enjoy it and, two, I can still stay at a good level. And I reckon I have still got a good five years.

"I feel all right now. But as soon as one of those two goes, I think I would then say that I am not going to force it.”

Patrick Bamford, Wrexham links persist despite Humphrey Ker comments

Despite Wrexham director Humphrey Ker ruling out a move for Patrick Bamford, the links keep persisting as the Welsh outfit chase a forward who possesses significant Championship experience.

With Bamford feeling fit and raring to go, he could be a punt for one of the newly-promoted Championship teams to take on, with his previous goalscoring exploits in the Championship examples of what he’s capable of when injury-free.

A regular source of goals will be crucial to Wrexham navigating their opening season in the second tier away from the dreaded dropzone, and previous links in January to Bamford suggest that a deal could be in the pipeline.

It has become likelier given Leeds’ promotion back to the big time, with the Whites set to try and add further depth and quality to their forward line, which would ultimately see Bamford earn even less game time than he did this season.

It will be intriguing to see if these links develop further as the summer progresses, with Wrexham continuing the hunt to find that allusive Championship marksman.
