As a lifelong Ipswich Town supporter, Sheeran’s deep ties to his club have evolved from shirt sponsorship to a minority ownership stake.

Ed Sheeran has an estimated net worth of £370 million, according to The Sunday Times Rich List, making him one of the wealthiest people under 40 in the UK.

Born in Halifax and raised in Suffolk, Sheeran first broke through with his debut album ‘+’ in 2011.

Since then, he has become one of the best-selling music artists in the world, with over 90 million monthly listeners on Spotify, ranking as the platform’s third most-followed artist.

His Divide tour alone grossed over $775 million from nearly nine million tickets sold globally.

His current Mathematics tour, running from 2022 to 2025, was the seventh-highest grossing tour of 2023, bringing in over $268 million (£211 million) from just 54 shows, according to Pollstar.

Sheeran has also built a substantial property portfolio. He reportedly owns nearly 30 properties in London, and recently purchased an £8.25 million office block in Soho - his first known commercial real estate investment.

Ed Sheeran’s stake in Ipswich Town - it’s “any football fan’s dream”

In August 2024, Ipswich announced that Ed Sheeran had acquired a 1.4% minority stake in the club via Gamechanger 20 Ltd.

A lifelong Town fan, Sheeran has sponsored the men’s and women’s first-team kits since 2021, and his Mathematics Tour branding has featured prominently on shirts.

As part of the investment deal, Sheeran has access to a personalised executive box at Portman Road but does not hold a seat on the board or any voting rights.

“It’s any football fan’s dream to be an owner of the club they support,” Sheeran said at the time.

“This is just me putting some money into the club I love.”

Ipswich CEO Mark Ashton praised Sheeran’s contribution, calling it “a natural progression” of a relationship that has brought “incredible exposure” to the club.

In May 2025, Sheeran announced three headline shows at Portman Road as part of his return to UK touring.

While Ipswich’s 2024/25 season ended in relegation from the Premier League after just one year back in the top flight, Sheeran’s support - both financial and cultural - has been a bright spot in a historic period for the club.
