Chelsea have already had a busy summer with incomings and outgoings on top of winning the Club World Cup, but what are they still looking to do?
Our Chelsea reporter Japtej Ghura brings you the latest…
Despite already bringing in Jamie Gittens, Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, Chelsea are still looking at bringing in two new recruits.
They have their eye on a new left-sided attacking player, with Joao Felix, Raheem Sterling and Nicolas Jackson all potentially leaving the club. Top of the list are Alejandro Garnacho and Morgan Rogers.
Chelsea have long been fans of Garnacho and have expressed interest in the past. With the 21-year-old looking very likely to leave Old Trafford this summer, west London seems a realistic destination.
Rogers had a fantastic season last time out with Aston Villa, and would definitely be an attractive option, although Villa are looking for £80 million for the Englishman, which Chelsea would not be comfortable paying.
A player who is also of interest is Jorrel Hato. The 19-year-old Ajax defender is very highly rated, and would be of interest to Chelsea because of the fact he can play both at left-back and centre-back.
He would be able to provide cover for Marc Cucurella, who is the only recognised left-back in the squad with Ben Chilwell out of favour, and desperately needs some of the load lifted off his shoulders.
The Blues were looking at a goalkeeper at the start of the window, before the Club World Cup, but after not being able to get the Mike Maignan deal over the line, paired with Robert Sanchez’s strong tournament, that is now not seen as a priority and Enzo Maresca believes Sanchez with Filip Jorgensen as back-up is sufficient.
Chelsea’s main objective between now and the end of the window will be getting players off the books. There are a few high-profile players who the club will be looking to shift, although it may not be easy.
Ben Chilwell, Renato Veiga, Raheem Sterling, Axel Disasi and Joao Felix are all up for sale, but only Veiga seems a really attractive option with the potential for Chelsea to make some money from.
Bayern Munich and Juventus are interested, and the Blues will be hopeful that they can make a profit on the £11.8 million they paid for him last year.
Chilwell and Sterling are both highly paid and both had unsuccessful loan spells at Crystal Palace and Arsenal respectively, and have not had clubs knocking down the door to sign them.
Disasi was signed for £39 million in 2023, and it seems Chelsea will definitely have to take a loss on the Frenchman. He had a difficult loan spell with Aston Villa last season, but Newcastle are interested in acquiring him. They are not willing to pay the £30 million that Chelsea are asking for however.
Felix also had an underwhelming loan spell in the second half of last season with AC Milan, and it is thought that Benfica are looking to bring him back to Portugal. Chelsea will however have to make peace with a loss on the £46 million they paid to sign him.
It promises to be a busy summer for Chelsea, with outgoings currently seen as more of a priority than incomings, especially due to the settlement agreement with UEFA which requires the club to have a positive transfer balance on their list of registered players for the Champions League next season. That means they must bring in more in cost savings from players leaving from their recent A list of players for UEFA competition than the costs of players coming in.
