Today it was the the turn of Elena Sadiku to take her side on the road, a little bit further north to face Montrose at Links Park and the Celtic FC Women went one better that the Bhoys with our Ghirls scoring a magnificent seven without reply.
Celtic FC Women put in a dominant display this afternoon at Montrose to progress in the Sky Sports Cup Mathilde Carstens gave the Celts an early lead as she found the bottom corner from outside of the area.
Saoirse Noonan doubled the Celtic advantage five minutes later with a long-range volley, before netting again shortly after to get herself a brace.
Kit Loferski got her name on the scoresheet 10 minutes before the break with a nice dink over the goalkeeper, giving the Scottish Champions a fantastic lead going into half-time. The speedy American got the second half off to a flying start as well, finding the top corner of the Montrose net shortly after the restart.
Celya Barclais made it six as the ball fell to her at the back post, and deadline day signing Morgan Cross struck home with three minutes left to play to grab her first goal for Celtic and round off a great performance at Links Park for a Celtic side that started with nine changes from the team that lined-up in the Champions League match on Thursday evening.
Celtic progress to the quarter-finals of the Sky Sports Cup after the 7-0 victory, where they will face either Hibs, Glasgow City, Dundee United/theRangers or Motherwell/Hamilton Accies.
Big match up next for the Scottish champions as they travel to Broadwood to face theRangers in the SWPL1. A victory in Cumbernauld on Thursday could see Elena Sadiku’s side go top of the table.
