It was another easy win for France in their second Group D match at UEFA Women’s EURO 2025. Juventus goalkeeper Pauline Peyraud-Magnin's team took the lead after less than 10 minutes, but conceded an equaliser shortly afterwards against Wales. Despite that, they still got all three points by winning 4-1 and extended their lead at the top of the group.
This victory puts France on six points, three points ahead of the closest challengers, England. The Lionesses bounced back from their opening defeat against France with a commanding 4-0 win over the Netherlands. The new Juventus goalkeeper, Danielle de Jong, remained on the Netherlands bench for the entire match.
The next round of matches will be decisive in Group D, with England and the Netherlands both on three points. England are against Wales, who have zero points and are almost eliminated, while the Netherlands will have to try to get something against a France team which looks unstoppable and appears to be one of the favourites to win the competition.
On Thursday, July 10, Viola Calligaris and Alisha Lehmann's Switzerland will face Finland in a decisive match in Group A, with the winner securing a place in the quarter-finals.
Mathilde Harviken's Norway are in a more comfortable position, having won their first two matches, and they will try to finish the group stage with a perfect record against Iceland.
