West Ham United are still looking for new options in the transfer market. According to a report by Football Insider, the club are considering the possibility of taking Chelsea player Raheem Sterling on loan, albeit late.
Chelsea do not consider the English winger to be part of their plans at the moment, and the club are actively looking to show him the way out. Raheem Sterling’s recent performance has not been impressive, and his last season proved to be a complete flop on loan with Arsenal, where he struggled to score goals.

Chelsea’s priority are to sell him permanently, but his huge salary of £300,000 per week can be a burden for any club. In such a situation, the loan route could be an economical deal for West Ham. This is an opportunity for Graham Potter to add both experience and quality, especially when the team seem to be struggling in the early matches.
Both Chelsea and West Ham are in talks on this issue, and there is a possibility of an agreement before the transfer window closes. Now the question is whether Sterling will be able to show the determination and hunger to prove himself again or not.
This is where the debate begins. On one hand, the Englishman’s career has been on a continuous decline for some time, and his loan spell at Arsenal is the latest example of this.
On the other hand, West Ham already have players like Jarrod Bowen, who will not be easy to replace. Still, if Chelsea bear a large part of the salary themselves, then this move can prove beneficial for West Ham.
If the 30-year-old winger gets regular playing time, he can strengthen the team with his experience and perhaps even bring back his old shine, but the club will also have to keep in mind that this deal does not affect the balance of the team and the plans for the young players. Overall, this move is full of risk, but with the right management and clear strategy, this bet can give a new direction to West Ham.
