West Ham United and Everton are both keen on bringing Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz back to the Premier League this summer, according to the Sun.

West Ham manager Graham Potter is tracking the Brazil international as he looks to strengthen his options at the London Stadium club, while his Everton counterpart David Moyes sees him as the perfect marquee signing as the Toffees prepare for life at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Luiz also wants to return to the English top-flight after an underwhelming debut campaign in Serie A, and the Villa star is not short of suitors as the Hammers and Merseyside club are expected to be joined by some of their domestic rivals in his pursuit.

The 27-year-old spent five seasons with Aston Villa, making 175 league appearances and weighing in with 20 goals and 18 assists.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, who once dubbed the West Ham target ‘really good’ was desperate to have him play for Manchester City, but work permit issues forced them to loan him out to Girona for two seasons before he moved to Villa.

Things did not go as planned for Luiz at Juve, but he will fancy his chances of impressing again in the Premier League after notching nine goals and five assists in 35 league matches in 2023-24 to help the Midlands club qualify for the Champions League.

Luiz completed over 1,800 passes that season, with an accuracy above 89%, and both West Ham and Everton could do with him in the middle of the park.

Juventus want to sell him after spending £42.5 million to acquire his services last summer, and he could be available for a very decent fee this summer with the Italians ready to cut their losses.

A return to the English top-flight has what it takes to get the best out of him again, but he will likely have to settle for only the domestic competitions as the aforementioned duo are not playing in Europe next season.
