West Ham have reportedly made a move for Monaco midfielder Soungoutou Magassa (h/t the Guardian).
Manager Graham Potter is eager to refresh his squad in the middle of the park with Edson Alvarez close to joining Fenerbahce.
Mohammed Kudus has joined Tottenham Hotspur, adding to West Ham’s concerns.
Potter wants to bring in at least two midfield players before the summer transfer window closes.
Magassa featured in 29 matches for Monaco across all competitions last season and also represented France at this summer’s European Under-21 Championship.
He is an ideal fit for the holding role for West Ham, offering both strength and composure. His versatility is another advantage, as he can also operate as a left-sided central defender.
Magassa is adept at winning tackles and moving the ball quickly to keep the game flowing. He is comfortable using either foot and has shown strong technical passing ability.
However, he is aggressive in challenges, which often leads to fouls in dangerous areas. Despite this, Magassa has the ability to be a big hit in the Premier League.
Potter is not only focusing on Magassa. He is also keen on adding a box-to-box midfielder, with Southampton’s Mateus Fernandes among the players under consideration.
