Lazio have reportedly learned the asking price set by West Ham United for their experienced left-back Emerson Palmieri.
The Biancocelesti might are expected to ring some changes to their full-back department following Maurizio Sarri’s return, and news reports have been constantly linking Nuno Tavares with the exit door.
Lazio have already turned down an offer from Al-Hilal earlier this month, but they would be willing to accept offers starting from €40 million for the 25-year-old who is also a target for Juventus. Therefore, the club’s sporting director, Angelo Fabiani, is keeping an eye on the market.
As exclusively reported by The Laziali journalist Alfredo Pedullà, the Aquile have set their sights on three possible solutions: Chelsea outcast Ben Chillwell, Genoa’s Aaron Martin, and Emerson.
La Gazzetta dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) also confirms the Italian capital club’s interest in the West Ham left-back. Emerson started his career at Santos before making a name for himself in Italy, first at Palermo, and then at Roma. In January 2018, he sealed a move to Chelsea, and played under Sarri in the 2018/19 campaign.
The 30-year-old has been at West Ham since the summer of 2022, and his contract will expire in 12 months, but it includes an option for another year. The pink newspaper claims that the Hammers would be willing to sell Emerson for €10 million.
Hence, it remains to be seen if Lazio will attempt to bring back the Euro 2020 winner who once played for their blood rivals, or opt for other solutions. But in any case, this will largely hinge on Tavares’ fate.
