West Ham United are showing interest in signing Wolfsburg winger Vaclav Cerny who is enjoying a fantastic 2024/25 season on loan at Rangers.

The Hammers are looking to bolster their forward department, and signing a striker is a priority. But they are also checking on other attacking options.

According to a report from Kicker, West Ham are keen to sign him, and they need to pay a fee of around £8 million to sign him.

Cerny has scored 12 goals and provided seven assists in 33 appearances across all competitions for Rangers.

The Czech Republic attacker has no future at the Bundesliga club after they signed Andreas Skov Olsen. Rangers do not have any option to buy him permanently, and they are unlikely to come up with a fee of around £7-8m for the 27-year-old.

Graham Potter might look to add depth to the squad, and West Ham could be interested in signing Cerny. However, it looks highly unlikely that Wolfsburg will terminate the loan deal with the Gers and recall the player during the middle of the season unless they receive a very good offer.

West Ham need to sign a few players before the transfer window closes on 3 February. Michail Antonio is out for the rest of the season, while Niclas Fullkrug and Jarrod Bowen are also currently missing with injuries.

Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus have been tasked to lead the forward line in recent weeks, and depth in the forward department is needed.

At that price, Cerny could be a smart signing for West Ham. He is fast, skilful, and has an eye for goal. He has proved his quality for Rangers, and there’s no reason why he can’t replicate that for the Hammers.
