Manchester City will take on West Ham at the London Stadium in Premier League action later today. Pep Guardiola’s side will be aiming to make it three wins from three Premier League matches before next weekend’s international break. But they face a tricky test against Julen Lopetegui’s side. The Hammers have a quality squad and will be eager to upset the world champions in front of their passionate home support in today’s late kickoff.

West Ham will enter today’s match following a win and loss in their first two Premier League matches. They fell 2-1 to Aston Villa on the opening weekend of the season. Goals from Tomáš Souček and Jarrod Bowen were enough for them to pick a 2-nil victory over Crystal Palace last weekend. Julen Lopetegui’s side also beat Bournemouth 1-nil in midweek Carabao Cup action courtesy 88th-minute Jarrod Bowen winner. The Hammers will enter today’s game full of confidence after back-to-back wins and clean sheets in all competitions. That could be a dangerous proposition for Pep Guardiola’s side today.

West Ham is a team blessed with quality options across midfield and front. Under new manager Julen Lopetegui they could pose a potent threat, especially on the break to Manchester City. A quick look at the Hammers squad shows what quality they have amongst their squad. Up front Jarrod Bowen will need to be contained. There is also the dynamic Mohammed Kudus to watch for. New signing Crysencio Summerville can also be a handful on his day. The pace and power of Michail Antonio is well known. New striker Niklas Füllkrug could also provide the City defence with a stern test. Players such as Lucas Paqueta, Tomáš Souček, Edson Alvarez and Guido Rodriguez give the Hammers weapons in midfield. If the Hammers are on their game in front of their home fans a tricky fixture awaits Pep Guardiola’s side.

Manchester City will enter today’s game as favourites. There is no doubt about that fact. But a talented West Ham side awaits them at the London Stadium. If the world champions are to come away from London with all three points and maintain their winning start to the Premier League season they must be at their best later today. If they aren’t Jolen Lopetegui’s side are more than capable of punishing Pep Guardiola’s side.

It should be an interesting match when the two teams face off later today. But based on the quality of the West Ham squad a tricky test lies in wait for Manchester City.
