Werder Bremen hope to strengthen their attack before Monday’s deadline with the signing of RB Leipzig’s André Silva (29). Florian Plettenberg reports that a verbal agreement has been reached between club and player, but that there is no agreement between the two clubs.

However, discussions are advanced and there is optimism that Silva will join before tomorrow’s deadline. West Ham had shown interest in signing the Portuguese forward on loan this month but a move to the Premier League hasn’t materialised, and so Silva remains on Leipzig’s books.

Bremen meanwhile are still looking to fill the void left by Niclas Füllkrug – who departed in 2023 – and Nick Woltemade, who joined Stuttgart on a free transfer in the summer.

Marco Grüll arrived a the club from Rapid Vienna, scoring five and creating one in 18 Bundesliga games.
