Enzo Maresca has warned that Goodison Park is a tough place to go as Chelsea head their for the final time to take on Everton on Sunday.

The Blues are looking to make it six league wins in a row and nine in all competitions, and a win would momentarily see them go top of the league, although Chelsea’s players insist they aren’t in a title race.

Chelsea have exceeded expectations and currently find themselves second in the league and four points ahead of Arsenal in third, and are also the top scorers in the division.

Maresca on tough Goodison Park

Despite being in good form Chelsea have lost five of their last six visits to Goodison Park and have only managed to score two goals in their last seven visits to the famous ground.

It makes pretty grim reading although it feels like the Blues are a different proposition to previous times they visited the ground.

Maresca has got Chelsea well drilled and everyone seems to understand their role perfectly, although at some point the Blues will lose a match.

Everton have shown they are difficult to break down and have only conceded two goals more than the Blues, who will need to be at their best to break the Toffees down, although Chris Sutton has backed Chelsea to win.

Chelsea have fared well on the road this season and have not only won more away games than any other side in the league this season, but they have also picked up the most points on the road.

However, Maresca has spoken on the difficulties and described Goodison as a tough place to go not just for Chelsea but all visiting teams.

“Chelsea have lost games there? Okay. It is something I didn’t know to be honest,” he told Chelsea’s website.

“It’s the same thing I was asked after Brentford, that the last three years they beat us [at Stamford Bridge]. Hopefully, we can go there and beat them.

“It will be a tough game for sure but we will try to prepare the game in the best way we can and the target is always to win the game.

“Everton’s stadium is not only tough for Chelsea, it’s tough for any club. So we are going to see.”
