Real Madrid’s biggest injury blow this season came back in October when Dani Carvajal picked up an ACL injury and was subsequently ruled out for the entirety of the season.
Carvajal’s absence has hurt the team badly, with his replacement Lucas Vazquez not being able to provide the same level of performances.
Real Madrid, therefore, are yearning for the return of Carvajal, who had to undergo surgery two months ago.
A recent report from Mundo Deportivo has offered an update on Carvajal’s recovery process, suggesting that the defender has already returned to Valdebebas.
The veteran defender is working closely with the Real Madrid physiotherapists and recovery team to expedite his rehabilitation process.
Images and videos have also come across, showcasing Carvajal working alongside Carlo Ancelotti, who is observing the player’s feet movements closely.
That said, Carvajal is not likely to return any sooner and has been definitively ruled out for the remainder of the campaign.
The Spanish international will only return next season, with Real Madrid hoping to have their star man available in time for the pre-season campaign.
In the meantime, Real Madrid are scouring the market for a new right-back, who can initially serve as an understudy for Carvajal before becoming a first-choice option.
Trent Alexander-Arnold has become the prime target, and it will be interesting to see whether or not Real Madrid can acquire the Englishman’s services in the upcoming January transfer window.
Even if not, Real Madrid are making a strong case to sign Alexander-Arnold in the summer, when the right-back will become a free agent.
