Kyle Walker-Peters admits that Southampton has been haunted by their miseries in the final third, hinting his frustration at the club's scattergun striker signing approach.

Tell me, honestly, Southampton fans, would you have believed another relegation down the line last summer? For most, the answer would be a firm no.

Still, here we are, not just confirmed for a Championship drop, but staring down the barrel of potentially the worst Premier League season in history.

But while the remaining matchday results will reveal the Saints' fate soon, arguably the club has been the worst off-the-field already. After all, where else, would one witness players going completely self-centric and such bizarre squad-planning solutions?

And to make it worse, Southampton fans are up to meet the final boss of the Saints' dressing room drama. It's the players indulging in a blame game of responsibilities now.

Don't believe me? Listen to how in a discussion about the club's season failures, Kyle Walker-Peters expressed his frustration on their attacking woes.

As quoted by the Daily Echo, Walker-Peters said: "If you make a mistake, especially in front of goal, you are going to get punished. That happened far too many times this season."

But read between the lines, this isn’t just about offensive lapses. This is a player fed up with the club’s scattergun approach to fixing its biggest issue of goals.

Walker-Peters takes a dig at Southampton's scattergun approach

Since Sport Republic took over in 2022, Southampton have gone on a striker-recruiting spree Ross Stewart, Cameron Archer, and others, but most of them are now found in the club's clear-out list this summer.

Similarly, despite multiple signings made last summer, the Saints still have no consistent presence up front. Compare that to the dependability of Aaron Ramsdale, Harwood-Bellis, or Mateus Fernandes in other areas of the pitch, and the gap becomes glaring.

But the most frustrating part? This issue probably gets swept under the rug again. Walker-Peters, who dared to speak out, is already tipped to leave this summer.
