Vlap heads for the exit: Playmaker to leave FC Twente after all | OneFootball

Michel Vlap is on the verge of leaving FC Twente for Al-Ahli SC in Qatar, De Telegraaf report. After previous negotiations with Russian side Spartak Moscow fell through, the 28-year-old midfielder has finally secured his next lucrative adventure.

Vlap is set to sign a three-year contract with the Doha-based Al-Ahli, a side who finished fourth in the Qatar Stars League last season. There he will play alongside Julian Draxler, and former Club Brugge man, Matej Mitrović.

According to De Telegraaf, all parties are finalising the last details. Vlap then has to pass a medical examination.

“The transfer fee Al-Ahli is willing to pay is lower than what Spartak Moscow had offered. While the Russians were willing to pay €3.5 million plus €1 million in potential bonuses, the transfer fee is now around €2 million,” says journalist Jeroen Kapteijns.

Vlap has played 162 official matches in four seasons at Twente, scoring 20 goals and providing 22 assists.
