PSG have built depth that have allowed them to be one game from winning a treble, but one player could be looking at greener pastures amid links to Arsenal and now Villarreal.

The Parisians under Luis Enrique have the depth that allowed them to win a second straight Ligue 1 title and Coupe de France with the Spanish manager. Enrique rotates to keep players fresh and enable them to compete in three competitions, winning trophies.

However, at some point, some players don’t want to be a rotation piece and believe they can contribute as a regular starter. This situation sees Kang-in Lee’s name in the transfer rumor mill.

Are Villarreal ready to challenge Arsenal for PSG standout?

Fichajes reports that Villarreal are looking to rebuild its attacking midfield following the expected departure of Álex Baena, one of the team’s pillars in recent years.

The report adds that the Asian player’s camp is open to a move that would help him feel valued again. A return to LaLiga—where he’s already shown he can thrive—could be a major factor in his decision to seek a fresh start.

Villarreal, in particular, would provide a competitive but stable setting, with consistent minutes and a key role in building play—something he’s struggled to find in Paris, per the report.

This news comes after The Sun reported that Lee is the latest player being linked with Arsenal. The report says South Korea international Kang-in Lee is open to a move due to limited playing time, and new Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta is a big admirer.

Berta even tried to sign the former Mallorca standout back in 2023 during his time at Atlético Madrid.
