Christopher Nkunku scored Chelsea’s first goal of the new campaign last night as they took on Wrexham in the opening pre-season game over in the USA.

It was Enzo Maresca’s first game in charge but it was far from an easy test against a lower opposition in Wrexham.

The underdogs held Chelsea to a 2-2 draw and thought they had even won it if it wasn’t for a late equaliser from Lesley Ugochukwu.

Nkunku with a powerful finish

Chelsea took the lead in the game though on 34 minutes after some scrappy play in the Wrexham box ended with the ball landing at the feet of Nkunku. And as you can see above, he provided a very powerful finish to put The Blues 1-0 up.

The game was a real test for Maresca though, with many frustrating moments throughout. It’s just the first pre-season game though and it was always going to be that way.
