Cesc Fabregas has come good on his word and has had a statue built for legendary Como striker Alessandro Gabrielloni to honour his winning goal against Roma last season.

Ahead of their first game of the 2025-26 Serie A season, Como revealed a newly-built statue honouring Gabrielloni inside the Stadio Sinigaglia.

Fabregas had joked last season that the 31-year-old deserved a statue in his honour after scoring the injury-time winner, and then setting up a second for Nico Paz in an eventual 2-0 win over Roma in December. That would prove to be Gabrielloni’s only goal in the top flight last season.

Fabregas has since come good on his word and has seen that a statue has been built to honour the centre-forward, who has been with Como all the way up from Serie D to Serie A and is now into his ninth season with the club.

Gabrielloni was visibly amused by the trophy, which came as a surprise to him, ahead of the Serie A match between Como and Lazio on Sunday evening.
