A potential transfer for Super Eagles and Bayer Leverkusen forward Victor Boniface to the iconic Italian club AC Milan is now facing significant uncertainty.

Initial reports indicated that the 24-year-old Nigerian international had successfully agreed to personal terms with the Rossoneri. A proposed deal structure involving a loan with an option to buy was also understood to be in place with his current club, Bayer Leverkusen, pending the standard formality of a medical examination.

Boniface had even traveled to Milan to finalize the transfer. However, the move has been thrown into doubt following the player's medical assessments, casting a cloud over the entire proposed switch to Serie A.

Previous injuries worry Milan officials

A significant medical history now casts a shadow over Victor Boniface's proposed transfer. The striker has been sidelined in the past by two separate groin injuries during his time in Germany. Furthermore, his budding career has already been marked by two anterior cruciate ligament tears, a history that would understandably prompt any potential suitor to proceed with extreme caution.

According to reports, the player's medical assessment in Milan became an extensive process. Boniface underwent three separate rounds of physical examinations yesterday. The final one was conducted by a trusted orthopedic surgeon who was specially recalled from his vacation for the purpose. Despite these efforts, the results were deemed inconclusive, pushing the final announcement to today.

The player's itinerary on arrival was detailed; he landed at Linate Airport in the early afternoon and proceeded to a hospital for standard checks shortly thereafter. After initially appearing to progress normally towards obtaining the necessary fitness certificate at the Centro Ambrosiano, the process took an unexpected turn. AC Milan, prompted by his past records, initiated a new, unplanned series of specialized orthopedic tests at Galeazzi Hospital with a club specialist, also brought back from vacation.
