Bild and kicker report that VfB Stuttgart have now pulled out of the race for Nürnberg midfielder Caspar Jander, and they have already found the alternative.
Stuttgart had made a previous offer worth just over €10m, but the Franken side rejected the offer as they wanted a fee closer to €15m. This was a fee that Stuttgart were unwilling to pay, so they pulled out of the race.
Instead, Stuttgart have moved quickly to find its alternative solution.
The alternative is Real Madrid midfielder Chema Andrés, who is already in Stuttgart ahead of completing a move for €3m to the Neckarstadion.
The 20-year-old can play as either a central or a defensive midfielder, and last season he featured 48 times for Madrid’s youth team Castilla, whilst also making three appearances for the senior side. Andrés also travelled with Madrid to the Club World Cup, but did not play a single minute.
The Spaniard will act as a backup option to Angelo Stiller and Atakan Karazor, while Yannik Keitel can also play in midfield.
