Former Barcelona star Gerard Piqué has on Saturday moved to reveal his appreciation for Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez.
Pérez, of course, is widely considered to be one of the most iconic figures in all of Spanish football.
The mastermind behind the ongoing success enjoyed by Real Madrid on the domestic and European fronts alike, the 77-year-old will go down in Blancos folklore as nothing short of a legend.
And though Pérez’s policies do not always go down particularly well across the La Liga landscape, he maintains the utmost respect on the part of allies and rivals alike.
As much was made evident once more on Saturday, upon the Spanish patron being praised by none other than Gerard Piqué.
Never shy in making clear his disain for Real Madrid, owing chiefly to his Barcelona roots, ex-defender Piqué had the following to say when drawn on the influence of Los Blancos’ president during an interview with Italian outlet Il Corriere dello Sport (as cited by Diario Sport):
“He’s very powerful. They have their battles, their rivals, and yet the Super League is still alive…”
