Liverpool boss Arne Slot is on the brink of something very special in the Premier League. He can already match Jurgen Klopp's masterpiece.
Liverpool beat Southampton on Sunday, coming back from 2-1 down. The Reds took the lead through Dominik Szoboszlai - a fine finish for his first of the season.
But then a controversial penalty and a piece of poor defending left the Reds trailing to the Premier League's bottom side. Mo Salah would be the saviour, however.
His brace, the second of which came from the spot, turned things around. Liverpool are now sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League, extending their lead over Manchester City to eight points.
That comes, of course, after City's 4-0 defeat at home to Tottenham Hotspur. The twin results put Arne Slot on the brink of something very special.
He could match Jurgen Klopp's masterpiece after just four months.
Go back to 2019 and Liverpool were absolutely thriving in the Premier League. They had a six-point lead over Manchester City and even better, Pep Guardiola's side were about to come to Anfield.
What waited for them was an absolutely sensational display from Liverpool. They'd win 3-1, showing absolute dominance at home.
The win meant they were nine points clear and as it turned out, set them on the way to win the Premier League. In fact, Liverpool had it all but wrapped up before the year was out.
It was the defining night of Jurgen Klopp's Premier League career. The night he proved once and for all that his team were the best in the country - and no one could question it.
And just four months into his own Premier League career, Slot can match it. Man City come to Anfield next weekend and if Liverpool win, they'll be 11 points clear of the champions at the start of December.
It would be unheard of - absolute magic - and leave Liverpool as overwhelming title favourites. Let's see if Slot's Reds can recreate history.
