Manchester United’s hunt for their first Premier League win of the season was halted at Craven Cottage as they were held to a 1-1 draw by a resolute Fulham.

The first half was a frantic affair, though the visitors should have been ahead early on. Just three minutes in, Matheus Cunha found himself in the perfect position inside the box after Mason Mount’s clever pass, but his shot struck the woodwork.

Shortly after, Altay Bayindir played a ball over the top to Cunha, who brought it down beautifully and fired towards goal, only for Leno to produce a sensational point-blank save, denying what looked like a certain opener.

Before the break, the Red Devils were awarded a penalty after Calvin Bassey brought Mount down in the box, but Bruno Fernandes skied the spot-kick over the bar.

The second half began with United making early changes to inject energy into the side, with Diogo Dalot and summer signing Benjamin Sesko replacing Casemiro and Amad Diallo, respectively.

United’s first goal of the season eventually came in the 58th minute, Leny Yoro connecting to a corner from Bryan Mbeumo that deflected off Rodrigo Muniz and past Leno.

However, their lead was short-lived. In the 73rd minute, Alex Iwobi delivered a teasing cross into the box, and Matthijs de Ligt’s attempt to intercept fell short, allowing substitute Emile Smith Rowe to poke the ball home and send Craven Cottage into celebration.

From that moment, Marco Silva's side grew in confidence and looked set to claim all three points.

Harry Maguire almost provided the breakthrough with a towering header from a corner in the 89th minute, but it went just wide.

Despite a late push, Ruben Amorim's men could not find a way past Fulham’s resilient defence, and the match ended in a 1-1 draw, leaving both sides to settle for a point.
