Speaking at this afternoon's press conference in the build up to their game with Werder Bremen, Union Berlin's head coach Steffen Baumgart answered questions in the mixed room.
“We are expecting an opponent that is hoping to play in Europe [next season], that are strong and also play good football. They will want to win but we want to defend well, find a way forward and be aggressive,” he explained.
After a handful of questions regarding the end of the season and how he'll set up defensively for Bremen, Baumgart stated he and his players want to finish on a high and kept some cards close to his chest.
“It's about getting a good feeling throughout the club. We will have to see how we will structure the defence [against Bremen]. Leo Querfeld has been excellent, Kevin Vogt also too. We will see but we will remain in a back-three defence,” he added.
Regarding the personnel update, the German gaffer was aware of the growing list of absentees. Baumgart went on to list the six key missing names who will be unavailable on Saturday.
"We have a full house on Saturday, but, sadly Aljoscha Kemlein, Robert Skov, Jerome Roussillon, Josip Juranovic, Wooyeong Jeong und Diogo Leite will be missing.
“Marin Ljubicic has played well in training, and there is nothing negative about him. [Benedict] Hollerbach and [Andrej] Ilic have performed from the start. Their starting positions should be continued,” Baumgart summarised.
Finally, the former FC Köln boss acknowledged the threat possessed by Bremen's striker Oliver Burke who praised as a fast striker who he's looking forward to seeing on Saturday.
