Paris Saint-Germain clinched their 13th Ligue 1 title with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Angers on Saturday at Parc des Princes.
PSG controlled the first half, firing 11 shots while Angers managed only two. Despite the pressure, the match stayed scoreless heading into the break.
The breakthrough came in the second half when Khvicha Kvaratskhelia delivered a cross from the left to the far post. Desire Doue met it in stride and volleyed it in with his right foot to give PSG the lead.
Doue’s goal was enough to seal the win and secure a second consecutive league title under Luis Enrique. Nonetheless, they aren’t the only team heading into their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal tie.

Aston Villa also secured a win on Saturday, defeating Nottingham Forest 2-1 at Villa Park. Moreover, Unai Emery’s squad is riding a seven-match win streak across all competitions. Nonetheless, the Spanish manager made a surprising take heading into Wednesday’s first leg.
“For the club, for the players and for me as a coach, it’s a huge challenge,” Emery said after the win against Forest (h/t BBC). “We are very excited and motivated.
“They are favorites but we are going to try to prepare as best as possible to compete against a very good team, very good players and a very good coach. We will try to enjoy the first leg in Paris and the second leg here.”
