Joe Rogan was “convinced” that Alexander Volkanovski deserved to win to become a double champion against Islam Makhachev last night at UFC 284.

Volkanovski, 34, fought on home soil in Perth and was attempting to go down in history as the fifth simultaneous double UFC champion with only Henry Cejudo, Amanda Nunes, Daniel Cormier and Conor McGregor previously accomplishing the status as a “Double Champ.”

While in the other corner, Makhachev, 31, was looking to regain his title in his first title defence since defeating Charles Oliveira at UFC 280 back in October.

It was the fighter from Dagestan that ultimately took the win via unanimous decision, though, with the fight being scored 48-47, 49-46 and 47-47.

Most MMA fans believe that Makhachev deserved to win the fight via the judges' scorecards, but Joe Rogan had other ideas that contradicted what the online MMA fans had to say.

Joe Rogan wasn't convinced with the UFC 284 main event result

Rogan didn't attend the pay-per-view in Australia, so watched the fight with Eddie Bravo and former UFC heavyweight fighter Brendan Schaub, with the group believing the call to give Makhachev the win was a “robbery.”

As soon as the result was called out, Rogan showed all his viewers on his live stream his disappointment that Volkanovski didn't win the fight, with the commentator and podcast host beginning to continuously say “Oh my god.”

Others in the group, including Rogan himself, said they might have been too biased towards Volkanovski and that he might have to watch the fight again.

Rogan went on to say: "Oh my God! We were convinced [that Alexander Volkanovski won the fight].

“We might have to watch it [again]. Let's see what people think online. In my eyes, I thought it was 3-2."

With the fight's results being debated by some, including Rogan himself, Volkanovski is determined to get a rematch against Makhachev to get another shot at rewriting history.

What did Volkanovski say after the fight vs Islam?

In his post-fight interview, Volkanovski said: “I’m disappointed and I could of done more.

“I underestimated his striking and he underestimated my wrestling, what can you do?

“I'm hearing that he was going back to his corner and [asking] a rematch because he thought he had lost. That's funny I would jump on the [opportunity of] a rematch."
