The worst scenario was confirmed after the road accident involving Diogo Jota (and his brother André Silva), as the football world comes together to pay tribute to the Portuguese international.
In this regard, UEFA has declared two days of mourning, with the players of the Portugal national team, who will play their first match in the European Championship against Spain this Wednesday, wearing shirts with black armbands.
Additionally, a minute of silence will be observed before the kick-off in memory of Diogo Jota.
The two brothers died in the early hours of the morning in Zamora. Diogo Jota, who was 28 years old, had been at Liverpool for five seasons, after stints, as a senior, at Paços de Ferreira, FC Porto, and Wolverhampton.
André Silva (25 years old) was trained at Gondomar, FC Porto, and Padroense, later moving to Paços de Ferreira. He had been playing for FC Penafiel for the past two seasons.
