Udinese general manager Franco Collavino has admitted that Jaka Bijol is a ‘high level’ player, amid the defender finalising a move to Premier League outfit Leeds United.
Leeds have agreed a fee of around €22m with Udinese for the services of the Slovenian centre-back.
Bijol is now in England and has been having a medical at Leeds; there is confidence the transfer will be pushed through soon.
Collavino is not willing to be drawn on the details, also regarding a possible move for striker Lorenzo Lucca to Napoli, but does admit that Bijol is a high level player.
He is also not surprised that there has been interest in Bijol and Lucca this summer.
“They are two high-level players who have attracted many clubs on them”, he said via Italian outlet Tutto Mercato.
“There is interest from many clubs, on the first in particular.
“In the next few days there will be some news.”
Leeds will be looking to see Bijol hit the ground running when he completes his move to Elland Road, with a tight backline key in the Premier League.
Keeping things tight at the back is something Leeds failed to do in the top flight, first under Marcelo Bielsa and then his successors.
The Whites have already boosted their attacking options by bringing in Lukas Nmecha from Wolfsburg.
Wolfsburg wanted to keep the forward, but their new contract offer reflected the fact he has been injury plagued for the last three seasons.
Nmecha has signed a two-year deal at Leeds, to start when his Wolfsburg contract ends at the end of this month.
