Following an emphatic opening day victory away at Aston Villa, Leeds United Under-21s welcome Ipswich Town Under-21s to Thorp Arch in Sunday’s Premier League 2 encounter.

The Whites were dominant in the West Midlands for the season curtain raiser. Skipper Alfie Cresswell headed his side into the lead early on, with a brace either side of the break from Harry Gray adding gloss to the scoreline at Bodymoor Heath.

That result temporarily put Scott Gardner’s team at the summit of the PL2 standings, ahead of Sunday’s visitors on goal difference.

Ipswich kicked off their season with a 4-3 win over Derby County on home soil thanks to a Tudor Mendel brace and goals from Tommy Taylor and Josh Pitts.

Granted Category 1 Academy status for the first time this summer, John McGreal’s side are in their maiden PL2 campaign.

Action from Thorp Arch gets underway at 1pm.
