On the departures front, it was more of the usual names this week, with strong updates provided on the futures of Ederson, Julian Alvarez, and even Kevin De Bruyne, despite Pep Guardiola’s clear message that the Belgian would not be leaving this summer.

And the Catalan coach himself had a mention, with the Manchester City manager keen to insist on his desire to keep on going at the Etihad Stadium, amid ongoing uncertainty over his own contractual situation as his current deal expires at the end of the 2024/25 season.

Following an eventful day 42 of the summer transfer window in the world of Manchester City, here is everything you need to know in order to remain up to date with the latest news and information around the Premier League champions!

Arrivals

Suggestions that Eberechi Eze will arrive at Manchester City this summer as the heir apparent to Kevin De Bruyne are misguided. (Michael Plant, ManchesterWorld)

New reports of a Manchester City offer for Dani Olmo continue to be wide of the mark, City Xtra understand.

Alessandro Bastoni‘s agent, Tullio Tinti: “Man City asked for Bastoni years ago. Recently, Real Madrid did the same… Inter want to win and they’re not gonna sell their top players like Bastoni…” (Sky Italia, Fabrizio Romano)

Departures

Ederson would prefer to move to a European club this summer but he recognises that none will pay the fee that Manchester City are asking. It may be the case that Saudi Arabian clubs do not get near it, either, but they are more likely to. (Sam Lee, The Athletic)

Julian Alvarez wants to leave Manchester City but may find himself priced out of a move. Both he and his family would welcome a move to a warmer climate and he wants more game time at City, who are asking for roughly £60 million plus around £17 million in add-ons. (Sam Lee, The Athletic)

New York City FC could emerge as a potential destination for Kevin De Bruyne to consider next year, with the upcoming campaign expected to be his last on Manchester City’s books regardless of whether he is convinced by the hierarchy to sign a new contract. A move to MLS remains an option for De Bruyne and could have more appeal to his family than Saudi Arabia. De Bruyne may also snub the opportunity to join a Manchester City sister club by linking up with San Diego FC. (GIVEMESPORT)

Contract Renewals

Ederson was ready to sign a new Manchester City contract around March this year but, by the end of the season, some of the goalkeeper’s compatriots already in Saudi Arabia were talking with certainty about his impending arrival. (Sam Lee, The Athletic)

Pep Guardiola: “If you love what you do, why should I stop? I like it – as much [now as when Manchester City] hired me – so let’s go…” (Jack Gaughan, MailSport)
