Chelsea yesterday confirmed the signing of Joao Pedro from Brighton, and the Jamie Gittens deal to bring the winger from Dortmund is expected to not be too far behind.
That adds two new attackers, three if you include Liam Delap from earlier this summer. Then there’s Estevao Willian who is also arriving from Palmeiras after the Club World Cup.

Despite all that, it doesn’t sound like Chelsea are done just yet. They seem to want to add yet more attacking firepower, especially with Noni Madueke potentially departing.
Top of the Blues’ list now that Gittens and Joao Pedro are almost secured appears to be Mohammed Kudus. The West Ham attacker wants out, and the club seem pretty happy to move him on. The Ghana star has 25 G/A in 65 Premier League appearances for West Ham, a really solid return considering they’ve had some tough times while he was there.
The Hammers are willing to sell to help fund a rebuild under Graham Potter.
It’s clear that Chelsea would be interested – but they’re not the only ones. A report from CaughtOffside today says that Tottenham and Newcastle are also in the race for the 24 year old. They also name a price – a deal “in the region of €60m” would be possible.
That’s not cheap, but it’s not crazy expensive either for a proven talent of the level of Kudus. The questions for us would be around how much Enzo Maresca wants him and considers him a for for his style of football, and how likely it is that Madueke leaves.
Chelsea apparently want €45m for the England winger – if they get it, Kudus suddenly becomes a priority target for them.
