Trent Alexander-Arnold proves a point magnificently as Liverpool beat Brighton 2-1 in the Premier League. The Scouser was on fire - but in a different kind of way.
Trent Alexander-Arnold has a reputation for not being able to defend. He holds that reputation despite coming up against some of the greatest wingers we've ever seen and getting the better of him.
The old myth goes 'you can't use him at right-back because the first time he comes up against an elite winger, he'll cost you the game'. That's repeated - and has been for years - despite all the evidence of it being false.
But then, maybe the issue is consistency. Yes, Alexander-Arnold can defend in one-off games but ask him to do it repeatedly and a mistake has to happen.
Only, he's just proven that's not the case. And he's done it emphatically.
