Reported Liverpool target Bryan Mbeumo could be available next summer and Brentford’s asking price has now been revealed.

Although the Reds completed the signing of Federico Chiesa this summer, links to long-time target Bryan Mbeumo persist.

The 25-year-old has started this season impressively, with three goals from three games, and he continues to be linked with a departure even though the transfer window is now closed.

Mbeumo joined Brentford from French outfit  Troyes in 2019, when the Bees were still a Championship side. He has since made just over 200 appearances for the west London club, scoring 53 goals and providing 43 assists.

Mbeumo’s price revealed

According to Peter O’Rourke of Football Insider, Brentford are set to demand £40 million for the signature of Mbeumo next summer, when he will only have a year remaining on his contract.

This would see Brentford net a huge profit on the Cameroonian international who they signed for around £6 million.

In the same report, O’Rourke says that Brentford will not sell Mbeumo in the January transfer window and that Arsenal and Aston Villa are also monitoring the dynamic winger, whilst Nottingham Forest had a £25 million approach rejected this summer.

Do Liverpool need Mbeumo?

Although the Reds signed a right winger this summer in Chiesa, and they already have one of the best in the world in that position in Mohamed Salah, the signing of Mbeumo could still be a good one.

Salah only has one year left on his contract at Anfield and, although negotiations are reportedly set to begin soon, there is absolutely no certainty that the Egyptian King will still be at the club next season.

Mbeumo has put up some impressive numbers since Brentford were promoted to the Premier League and could be the player Liverpool turn to when looking to replace their talisman.

Given the 25-year-old is available for a fee that won’t seem too unreasonable to Liverpool, this could be a transfer to keep an eye on heading into next summer.
