Kyle Walker has completed his exit from the Etihad Stadium after a stellar seven-and-a-half year stay at Manchester City.

The England international’s phasing out process had seemingly began during the recent January transfer window, when Walker himself had indicated to club officials that he wanted a change of scenery.

That conversation came at a hugely difficult time for the club across competitions, largely through injury and fitness problems, but the likes of Hugo Viana and Txiki Begiristain were happy to oblige and seek out what would turn out to be a loan switch to AC Milan.

Having largely failed to impress in Italian football however, the San Siro club opted not to activate their €5 million option to buy in their temporary deal with Walker, as such sending him back to the Etihad Stadium.

But with Pep Guardiola holding no intention of reintegrating Walker into his plans, the Englishman and his representatives were forced to seek out new options in the market, thus leading him to a stay in the region and in the Premier League.

Now, as Kyle Walker completes his permanent exit from Manchester City during the second-half of the 2025 summer transfer window, here is everything you need to know about the deal!

What are the terms of Kyle Walker’s move to Burnley from Manchester City?

Burnley and Manchester City are understood to have agreed upon a permanent agreement for Walker that could reach up to a total of £5 million, depending on the activation of various clauses and add-ons.

As for the player, Walker has penned a two-year agreement with the Clarets.

What has Kyle Walker said upon joining Burnley?

Speaking in his first interview with Burnley, Walker said, “I’m delighted to be here. When I spoke to Scott [Parker] and heard about his plans for next season, it was an opportunity I jumped at.

“He’s done an amazing job here, guiding the Club back to the Premier League with a 100-point haul, and now we’re looking forward, together, at being back in the greatest league in the world.

“Burnley had a tremendous campaign last season, built on an incredible defensive record, and I can’t wait to come in and add my experience and quality to what looks an exciting squad.”

Adding further detail in his wider interview, the veteran defender said, “At this stage of my career, being at a great club [Manchester City] for a number of years… I went overseas [on loan to AC Milan] and tried that out, but I just felt I needed something that was a family club.

“I’ve been around the place [Burnley] and my son is training at the training ground and you can feel the aura around there and what the owners are trying to do and I wanted to be a part of that. I want to be a part of the success.”

What shirt number has Kyle Walker selected at Burnley?

Kyle Walker’s new shirt number at Turf Moor will be decided later in the summer.

Are there any clauses involved in the deal?

According to the reporting of MailSport, the full £5 million transfer fee to Manchester City in Kyle Walker’s move to Burnley is contingent on the defender playing in 70 per cent of the Turf Moor club’s games and securing Premier League survival this season.

When could Kyle Walker make his debut for Burnley?

While Burnley have four friendly fixtures lined-up between now and the start of the Premier League season against Huddersfield, Shrewsbury, Stoke, and Lazio, Kyle Walker’s competitive debut could come on Saturday 16 August.

That opener in the top-flight could come at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and a clash against the club that propelled Kyle Walker’s career to its summit and ultimately led to his big-money move to Manchester City.

Are any further exits expected from Manchester City?

Hugo Viana and his transfer colleagues at the Etihad Stadium are likely to continue in their trimming of Pep Guardiola’s extensive squad list, with the likes of James McAtee, Ilkay Gundogan, and Ederson all facing uncertain futures.
