The Tractor Boys have taken just two points on the road this season and have conceded exactly four goals in each of their last two away fixtures.

Troubling times for Tractor Boys

Ipswich impressed many with their exploits in the second tier last season, but they have not had a happy time of things in the Premier League and the need for a first win of the campaign is getting increasingly more desperate.

The Tractor Boys have five points from their opening 10 league matches – with each of these coming from draws – and only two of these have come on the road.

While they have had some joy going forward – with striker Liam Delap shining this season with five goals – their defensive porosity and inability to hold on to leads will be a major cause for concern for Kieran McKenna.

Ipswich have conceded 21 league goals this season, the second-highest tally in the division behind Wolves (27) and have squandered leads in five Premier League matches, including in each of their last two.

A visit to Spurs could see their winless run continue, particularly given that the hosts have won seven of their eight home matches in all competitions, including against Manchester City and Aston Villa in their last two.

Meetings with Manchester United and in-form Nottingham Forest afterwards will not make life any easier for the Tractor Boys but, if they are to avoid the drop, a win in any of these could go a long way in ensuring their safety.

Tottenham vs Ipswich team news

Ange Postecoglou confirmed in his press conference on Friday that defender Cristian Romero is close to fitness and will be assessed to see if he will feature in some capacity on Sunday.

However, the match will come too soon for Timo Werner, Mikey Moore, Micky van de Ven, Wilson Odobert and Richarlison.

McKenna, meanwhile, will be without midfielder Kalvin Phillips after the Man CIty loanee was given his marching orders in the 1-1 draw with Leicester, however defender Harry Clarke is available for selection after serving his suspension from the defeat at Brentford.

Jacob Greaves, Axel Tuanzebe, Jack Taylor, Chiedozie Ogbene and Janoi Donacien are all unavailable through injury, while former Spurs winger Jack Clarke will be hoping to start against his former employers after coming off the bench in each of the last two Premier League matches
