Tottenham open their 2025-26 Premier League campaign in familiar surroundings this afternoon, hosting newly promoted Burnley. It has been a difficult week for Spurs, who suffered a frustrating defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup midweek. They were two goals clear with 85 minutes played, but went on to lose on penalties.
They have an opportunity to get back to winning ways today, though. Burnley have invested heavily in the summer transfer window, adding the likes of Kyle Walker and Armando Broja to the side, but will have their work cut out for them if they are to survive in the top flight this season. Scott Parker’s defensive strategy led this side to a second-place finish in the Championship last season, and his back line will certainly be put through its paces today.
Dominic Solanke is expected to return to the starting lineup for the hosts today after picking up an injury in pre-season, while a raft of summer signings are set to make their Premier League debuts for either side. Follow the match below with our dedicated live blog, featuring expert insight and analysis from Matt Verri at the ground.
