Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly in pole position to sign Palmeiras youngster Marcus Vinnicius, according to PL Brasil.
The Brazilian outfit have recently become a shopping ground for European heavyweights, and another one of their talented teenagers is in high demand.
The Sao Paulo-based club have become one of the best talent producers on the continent, and Tottenham are monitoring the latest exciting player to come through their ranks.
Palmeiras have sold Endrick to Real Madrid for a fee that could rise £50 million, Luis Guilherme to West Ham United for £25m, and Estevao Willian to Chelsea for £47m.
17-year-old left-back Vinnicius is now attracting interest from Tottenham, with two Premier League rivals also keeping an eye on the player.
Newcastle United are interested in Vinnicius, while Portuguese giants Benfica are also keen, although they’re monitoring the player through an agency that also works with Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Palmeiras could have a bidding war on their hands for Vinnicius, although the Brazilian news outlet reports that Tottenham have moved ahead of the other clubs in the race for the talented youngster.
Tottenham have endured a relatively quiet summer transfer window thus far, but the only players to have signed for the club are youngsters.
They’ve signed 18-year-old midfield duo Archie Gray from Leeds United and Lucas Bergvall from Swedish side Djurgarden.
Vinnicius is the latest youngster on their radar, but he’s closing in on his first professional contract with Palmeiras and will not come cheap.
The teenager is expected to have a release clause worth £85m in his contract, but Palmeiras are open to negotiating a deal with any interested European club.
However, they’re likely to demand a fee north of the release clause for the player who is a regular for the Palmeiras Under-17 team and recently won the Ecuador Youth Cup.
