Tottenham’s Predicted Lineup vs Wolves: Fresh Legs and Key Players to Watch

Tottenham Hotspur will face Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday in a crucial Premier League match sandwiched between their two Europa League quarter-final fixtures against Eintracht Frankfurt. With the first leg in north London ending in a 1-1 draw, the upcoming tie in Germany is pivotal for Spurs’ season. Manager Ange Postecoglou has indicated that changes will be made to the lineup for the Wolves game, with fresh legs and player rotation at the forefront of his mind.

Postecoglou’s Rotation Plans

Ange Postecoglou has made it clear that Sunday’s visit to Molineux will not just be about getting the necessary points in the Premier League but also preparing the team for the decisive second leg against Eintracht Frankfurt. “It’ll be about sort of managing minutes of some guys, but also getting some minutes into other guys,” Postecoglou explained ahead of the match.

He emphasised the importance of balancing immediate results with long-term preparation, noting the potential for extra time in the second leg of the Europa League. “We’ll need a big game, big performance, on Sunday, so having some fresh legs will help,” Postecoglou said, underscoring the need for fitness and readiness in both competitions.

Players Likely to Be Rested

As part of the strategy to manage the squad, Postecoglou is expected to rest some of the key players who featured heavily in the first leg against Frankfurt. Destiny Udogie and James Maddison are likely to be among the players rested due to “cramping up” towards the end of the first-leg draw. Alongside them, Micky van de Ven and captain Heung-min Son could be given a breather.

Midfielders Lucas Bergvall and Rodrigo Bentancur, who impressed in the first leg against Frankfurt, may also be protected in preparation for Thursday’s match, with Yves Bissouma, Pape Matar Sarr, and Archie Gray all vying for starts. “Some guys need games, you know. You can put them in cotton wool as much as you like, but some players need to play and they need to play pretty regularly,” Postecoglou noted.

Richarlison and Mathys Tel Push for Starts

Richarlison, who returned from injury during the Frankfurt match, is pushing for a starting role against Wolves. The Brazilian forward will be eager to make a more significant impact following his return. On-loan forward Mathys Tel will also be aiming to build on his positive contributions, including his late penalty in last week’s win over Southampton. Postecoglou dismissed rumours surrounding Tel’s future, following reports suggesting he could return to Bayern Munich. “Don’t believe everything that comes out of Germany press. Any press really these days… Matty’s important for us,” Postecoglou confidently stated.

Predicted Tottenham XI vs Wolves

Given the need for rotation and preparation for the crucial second leg against Frankfurt, the predicted Tottenham lineup for Sunday’s match against Wolves is as follows:

Formation: 4-3-3Goalkeeper: VicarioDefenders: Porro, Romero, Davies, SpenceMidfielders: Bissouma, Sarr, GrayForwards: Johnson, Richarlison, Tel

Injuries: Danso, Kulusevski, Dragusin

Tottenham will look to manage the balance between securing points against Wolves and ensuring their best players are ready for the Europa League decider. Postecoglou’s tactical approach to squad rotation will be key in maintaining their chances on both fronts.
