Tottenham Hotspur sent a representative to watch a La Liga match at the weekend as they check up on two targets.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy backed Ange Postecoglou with the big-money arrivals of Dominic Solanke, Archie Gray and Wilson Odobert in the summer, but there has been criticism about the club focusing on young players rather than more ready-made stars.
The north London club have lost more Premier League games than they have won and are not even in the top half of the table, leading to calls for business to be done next month.
The Spurs board are already thinking about the future and are looking at possible options they could recruit.
According to Spanish outlet Relevo, a Spurs emissary was at Real Betis’ Benito Villamarin to watch Johnny Cardoso and Vitor Roque play against Rayo Vallecano.
When Spurs sold Giovani Lo Celso for a cut-price fee to Real Betis in the summer, they agreed to a clause where they can sign Cardoso for €25m, but that does not get activated before next summer.
Roque on the other hand is on loan at Real Betis from Barcelona but the Catalans were in favour of letting him go in the summer.
Both players have been an important part of the La Liga side this season, it remains to be seen if Spurs will make a move for them next summer.
