In a recent report, Marca claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are facing a tough battle in the race to land Atalanta midfielder Ederson. It has been mentioned that Spurs will have to rival Atletico Madrid in the race to sign the Brazilian midfielder.
Ederson has enjoyed a solid season at the Italian club after he put in a series of dominant displays for them in the middle of the park. The 24-year-old has taken part in 36 matches for Atalanta during this campaign, netting six goals and grabbing one assist in the process across various competitions.
The Brazilian talent has anchored the midfield with conviction as he is averaging 2.6 tackles, 1.2 interceptions, 0.9 clearances, 1.1 shots, 0.6 key passes and 0.7 dribbles per game in Serie A. He has even been accurate when distributing possession from midfield based on his pass completion rate of 83.8% in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Italian club will run out in the summer of 2026. Hence, Spurs would have to make a convincing offer if they want to recruit him in the upcoming transfer period.

Ederson loves a tackle and can do a little bit of everything at the centre of the park. He can sense the danger well and can earn the ball back for his side at the centre of the park. The Brazilian talent usually puts his foot through the ball when required and can shoot the ball with power from long range. He has got the eye to cut open the opponent’s half with a killer pass and can make some driving runs with the ball in the opponent’s half.
We can expect Ederson to bring more bite and steel to Tottenham head coach Angelos Postecoglu’s midfield. He might even help Spurs compete across all fronts over the next few years.
At 24, Ederson will only get better as he matures as a footballer, so the North London club would do well to bring him on board later this year. He would be an excellent option for Spurs if Postecoglu can find a way to get a deal done for him.
