Tottenham Hotspur made it through to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup on Thursday night at the expense of Manchester United, courtesy of a 4-3 win in north London.
Ange Postecoglou's team have now made it two wins in a row across all competitions after a previous run of five games without, and are one step closer to ending a trophy drought that began in 2008.
But it was almost a disasterclass for Spurs, at one stage leading 3-0, before conceding twice from errors to let the visitors back into the game. A Dominic Solanke brace and one from Dejan Kulusevskis had Tottenham cruising towards victory, only for Joshua Zirkzee and Amad Diallo goals to make a game of it after shocking Fraser Forster mistakes. Son Heung-min then scored direct from a corner, before Spurs conceded a third to Jonny Evans, but held onto the lead until the close.
For United and Ruben Amorim, the result and overall performance was disappointing, but will serve to teach the new head coach even more about the inconsistent squad he inherited only last month.
