Football League World takes a look at some of the best wingers in the Championship and ranks them from 20th to first.
The Championship's exciting and often attacking, expansive play makes it one of the very best divisions in the world to watch on a weekly basis, with nearly every side in the division boasting quality out wide.
Ensuring that you have talent on the wings if a fundamental need in the second tier of English football, and while some teams do have it in abundance, some are definitely lacking that true quality and creativity at times.
In that spirit, and with just weeks to go in the 2024/25 campaign, Football League World has ranked the best wingers in the Championship from 20th to first.
Queens Park Rangers have unearthed a gem in Koki Saito, with the Japanese winger showing at times just how much pure quality he has out wide.
The ball seems to effortlessly stick to the 23-year-old's boot at times, and he is able to progress forward with it as if his opponents are not there. However, he does need to add more goals and assists to his game if he is to go to the next level.
Blackburn Rovers' Tyrhys Dolan has been excellent this season, with the 21-year-old proving to be a threat off the right for his side on multiple occasions.
While he has not quite got the ball rolling under Valerien Ismael, his performances under John Eustace proved his quality, and with his contract due to expire in the summer, clubs will be queuing up for his signature.
Josh Murphy has been simply sensational for Portsmouth in 2024/25 after leaving Oxford United at the end of the last campaign and he has played a huge role in their push for safety.
Quick, tricky and vastly experienced, some questions were pondered about his decision to leave the U's for another promoted side, but he has quickly shown that his choice to move to Fratton Park was the right one, with Pompey reaping the benefits.
21-year-old Djeidi Gassama is a special talent, and his frightening pace makes him a true asset to Danny Rohl and Sheffield Wednesday.
Inconsistency has been a key issue for the young winger, but on his day there are few that can cause full-backs as many issues as the Frenchman. Enjoying his best scoring season in senior football, the sky is the limit for Gassama.
A different style of winger to Gassama, Ephron Mason-Clark is the epitome of pace and power in one package and he has combined these two attributes to become a key man for Frank Lampard at Coventry City on the left flank.
In his first season in the Championship after leaving Peterborough United, he had 10 goal contributions and he will be hoping that he can get back to the same level of form that he was in before suffering a hamstring strain over the festive period.
The Championship is filled to the brim with quality out on the wing this season, and Sunderland's Romaine Mundle is another who has seemingly burst onto the scene in 2024/25.
After a tough first half of a year with the Black Cats at the end of the last campaign, he has become more of an established star under Regis Le Bris and had it not been for a hamstring injury that saw him miss the majority of the winter, he could easily have at least 10 goals right now. The 21-year-old is a real talent.
Largie Ramazani has been the victim of Leeds United's alarming amount of quality out on the wings and through no fault of his own he has not quite been able to show Daniel Farke what he can do out wide.
Effortlessly quick and agile, a little bit more composure is needed in the final third from the former Manchester United youngster and a loan move away next season could benefit him greatly with consistent football needed to help fulfill the huge amount of potential that he has.
This season has not quite gone the way that Mikey Johnston would have hoped for in terms of his own numbers, but it cannot be denied that his incredible run of form for West Bromwich Albion at the end of the last campaign was crucial to their play-off finish.
He has at times threatened to be that same player in 2024/25, but the Baggies have not quite been able to get the same level of performance out of the ex-Celtic ace but on his day there are few better goalscorers from out wide.
Luca Koleosho is an incredibly exciting talent, there is no denying that, and in a different team he could be more of a threat off both the left and right flanks.
Scott Parker's relatively conservative style of play at Burnley has not helped the 20-year-old to unlock his true talent, but there is a reason why Bayern Munich have shown an interest in him in the past and if given the correct opportunity in the correct side, his flair could be used properly.
Jesurun Rak-Sakyi was one of the most exciting arrivals at Sheffield United in the summer, and for good reason, having impressed greatly while at Charlton Athletic before moving to Crystal Palace.
Now, with nearly a full year in the Championship under his belt, it is clear that the 22-year-old is steadily becoming a Premier League star for the future with his ability to turn defenders inside and out a key feature of his game, all while being a threat in front of goal.
Jaidon Anthony is the second Burnley player on the list and he pips his teammate to the top 10 by just being more of a threat in the final third on a consistent basis.
He also found it tough to get into true goalscoring positions under Parker at the beginning of his time at Turf Moor, but it is clear that his past experience with the Clarets' boss has helped him as he has started to adjust to life back under the 44-year-old and he has fought back from a poor loan move to Leeds last season.
Anis Mehmeti has been crucial to Bristol City's push for a play-off place, and without his goals the Robins would be languishing in mid-table.
Liam Manning has not quite been able to get a tune out of his strikers this season, but Mehmeti has ensured that it has not become too much of a problem by finding the back of the net routinely and taking the lead in the final third with an excellent eye for goal.
Morgan Whittaker has not quite hit the ground running at Middlesbrough, and it is perhaps a continuation of his poor start to the season at Plymouth Argyle that has caused that. However, his talent can not and must not be denied.
Able to take the ball from off the left and fire it in from just about anywhere, there are few better wingers at striking from distance than the 24-year-old, and once he finds his feet in the north-east, he could prove to be a very big player for Michael Carrick.
Leeds United's Manor Solomon has shown hints of his Premier League quality at times this season since joining on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, and he looks at home with Farke.
The 25-year-old scored four goals and registered four assists in just seven matches in January and Februay, showing his quality and a return to that form in the run-in would hand the Whites the Championship trophy in May.
The form that Ben Doak was in at the start of the season for Middlesbrough was simply sensational, and defenders found his trickery and pace a real handful throughout the first few months of 2024/25.
However, he returned to Liverpool in January for thigh surgery, with his time away from the Boro starting XI coinciding with a drop-off in form for Carrick's side and they are desperately missing him and his ability to pick out a cross for his teammates.
Tom Fellows' future is extremely bright, and West Brom will find it increasingly more difficult to keep hold of him in every transfer window that passes by - particularly if they do not find themselves in the Premier League soon.
A more traditional winger, the 21-year-old's main aim is to try and find his teammates with plenty of crosses and it's a tactic that has worked well for the Baggies so far. With Josh Maja returning from injury soon, Tony Mowbray will be hoping the pair can recreate their early-season partnership and fire the Black Country outfit into the play-offs.
Leeds' Wilfired Gnonto is a player with a ton of potential and sometimes does not quite show just how much quality he truly has.
Nevertheless, when he is at his very best, the Whites have a winger who is more than comfortable of operating in the Premier League on a weekly basis and it is that talent that they need to try and unlock more and more.
If Farke can get the true Gnonto playing more often, then he could easily push himself up this table further, but consistency is required to be at the very top level and the Italian is struggling to show that this season.
Borja Sainz has led the way in the Championship scoring charts for the majority of the season and it is hard to ignore that when it comes to creating this ranking.
Norwich City would be in a much more precarious position in 2024/25 without the Spaniard, as well as Josh Sargent, and he is vital to their slim chance of finishing in the play-off places.
Sainz's incredibly clever positioning, dribbling and shooting make up the pace that he lacks compared to some of the other wingers on this list and it allows him to make the most of the free role that he is given by Johannes Hoff Thorup, which sees him drift in from the left.
Marcus Edwards has been incredible for Burnley since joining on loan from Sporting CP in the January transfer window.
While his numbers have not quite shown his quality, he has given the Clarets a new dynamic to their attacking play, and his performance against Sheffield Wednesday in February was a true indication of the talent that Parker has at his disposal.
With Champions League experience to his name, getting Edwards in was a real coup for Burnley and he could be the difference-maker in the final weeks of the season as they look to push Leeds and Sheffield United all the way.
Taking the crown as Football League World's best Championship winger is Leeds' Dan James, with the Welsh star once again flying at Elland Road.
With nearly 20 combined goals and assists, there is no doubt just how influential the 27-year-old has been for the Whites this season, and without his near-constant presence in the team, their push for the league title would not be going as well as it is.
Frighteningly quick, and now also dangerous in the final third on a consistent basis, James is the complete package on the wing and Leeds are incredibly lucky to have a player of his quality in their starting XI.
