Tino Livramento dismisses Manchester City nonsense

The media have been desperate to push a Newcastle United losing Tino Livramento to Manchester City narrative.
This despite absolutely no evidence of even any interest from Man City, never mind contact with Newcastle United.
Manchester City have already spent almost £300m on eight players in 2025.
As featured on The Mag recently, the vast majority of Manchester City fans, the ones who aren’t clueless, accepted that even if for some strange reason United were prepared to sell Tino Livramento, it would be at a price that Man City wouldn’t be willing to go to, on top of all their other spending (the minority of clueless Man City fans wanting to believe that Pep Guardiola could walk in and take Tino Livramento, in return for £50 and Jack Grealish!).
One of Eddie Howe’s many brilliant signings, United paid £40m (£32m plus £8m in future add-ons) for Tino Livramento two years ago, seen by many as a massive risk due to a serious injury that had meant the defender playing next to no football across the previous 12 months.
Tino’s valuation now at least double what they paid, £80m+, not that Newcastle have any intention of selling one of their best players, who along with Lewis Hall, will hopefully be the England AND Newcastle United full-back pairing across the next decade.
Out in Slovakia, Tino Livramento and the England Under 21s preparing for tonight’s Euros quarter-final against Spain.
Interviewed ahead of the match, the media trying to make it about the daft Manchester City transfer speculation, rather than about reality and the Young Lions’ big upcoming quarter-final…
“I am very much focused on what I am doing here now.
“I don’t know anything about that [Manchester City speculation].
“Being away with the under-21s is my main priority.
“I like to stay in the moment and just focus on what I can do to help the team now.”
Tino Livramento on Eddie Howe:
“I’m in constant contact with the manager [Eddie Howe].
“He has just said to keep focusing on what you are doing now and you are doing so well.
“So, I think having that relationship with someone that is obviously such a big figure in what I’ve done so far, is an amazing thing for me.”
These days, everything gets twisted to such an embarrassing degree.
Some media trying to make this out to be an ‘Update – Tino Livramento to Manchester City move’, or something similar. Wanting to make out that when Tino Livramento is in ‘constant contact’ with Eddie Howe, it is to talk about a move away from Newcastle United.
The reality is that as many other Newcastle United players have attested to in the past, Eddie Howe is very hands-on and is often in touch when they are away on international duty. For example, I remember two years ago Anthony Gordon saying similar to what Tino Livramento is saying now, when England won the Under 21 Euros back in 2023 and Gordon was player of the tournament. Eddie Howe giving guidance and support even when on international duty.
Quite clear how grateful Tino Livramento is to Eddie Howe for turning him into a full England international AND trophy winner with NUFC.
Eddie Howe and Newcastle United with zero intention of selling the young star and equally obvious, Tino Livramento no interest in leaving St James’ Park. As evidenced by so many other previous interviews with the player.
However, this is the transfer/silly season (although when does it ever stop….?) and the media desperate for Newcastle United to lose their best players to rival clubs is just something we know will continue, even when the never ending speculation is started by unscrupulous journalists and then simply continued by the rest, despite no substance to it whatsoever.
