The Blues announced the news via a post on their official club Twitter account this afternoon.
Tickets have been on-sale for the last fortnight since Chelsea completed a thrilling 4-3 penalty shootout victory over European champions Lyon in the quarter-finals and fans have booked their places for the first leg of the South West Londoners’ semi-final tie at a rapid rate.
Chelsea’s semi-final showdown with Barcelona is arguably the most eagerly-awaited fixture in European club football. The two clubs last met in Gothenburg as they contested 2020/2021 UEFA Women’s Champions League final. On that occasion, it was the Spanish club who ran out 4-0 winners. It was Chelsea’s first UEFA Women’s Champions League final appearance and they will have taken plenty of lessons away from that match.
The first leg of Chelsea’s UEFA Women’s Champions League semi-final tie against Barcelona takes place at Stamford Bridge on Saturday 22 April. The two sides will contest the second leg in Spain on Thursday 27 April. The winners will face either VfL Wolfsburg or Arsenal in the final at Philips Stadion in Eindhoven, The Netherlands on Saturday 3 June.
