Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool will face each other in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 and it’s the first time that these two sides will clash since being in the same group during the 2018-19 season.

The two squads opened up Group C play with PSG heading to Anfield for what would be a thrilling 3-2 win for the Reds in September 2018. Liverpool jumped out to a 2-0 lead, and it seemed as though it would be a blowout victory.

Daniel Sturridge and James Milner gave Liverpool a two-goal advantage in the first 36 minutes. However, the Ligue 1 side did respond late in the first half after a goal from Thomas Meunier.

The match would stay 2-1 until Kylian Mbappé scored in the 83rd minute to level the scoring. Right when PSG believed that they’d leave with a 2-2 draw, Roberto Firmino scored in the second half stoppage time to give Liverpool a 3-2 win.

PSG takes revenge at the Parc des Princes

The two teams would clash a couple of months later in November 2018, but this time, it would be the Parisians leaving with a 2-1 win over the Premier League side at the Parc des Princes.

Juan Bernat and Neymar scored in the first 37 minutes to give PSG a 2-0 lead over the Premier League side. Liverpool attempted to mount a comeback when Milner scored in the first half stoppage time, but the Reds couldn’t find a second goal to level the scoring.

PSG and Liverpool played tightly contested matchups in 2018 and it will be interesting to see if they replicate that in 2025.
