Manchester United had a disappointing end to 2023 as they suffered a 2-1 Premier League defeat at Nottingham Forest.

The club lacked a cutting edge in front of goal and manager Erik ten Hag may want to reinforce the attack with the transfer window now open.

The defence also needs reinforcement this month so let’s have a look at three possible targets that United could pursue in the near future.

Serhou Guirassy – Stuttgart

The Guinean star has been a revelation for Stuttgart this term with 19 goals in 16 games. 16 of those have come in the German top flight.

His form has caught the eye of many European clubs. The striker is reportedly flattered by interest from United and they could swoop for his services.

Guirassy presently has a release clause of just €17.5 million in his contract and he would be a quality acquisition with his current form in front of goal.

Paulo Dybala – Roma

The World Cup winner has been long linked with a move to Old Trafford and a deal could materialise this winter due to the low release in his contract, as per La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The 30-year-old has been in good form with four goals and six assists from the second striker role despite his injuries. He has averaged a goal contribution in every 103 minutes.

The attacker currently has a €13m buy-out clause active for non-Italian clubs and it won’t be a surprise if United revive their long-term interest in the Argentine playmaker.

Jean-Clair Todibo – Nice

The centre-back was on the radar of the Red Devils in the last transfer window, but a deal did not materialise due to the lack of funds after Harry Maguire decided to stay at the club.

Tottenham Hotspur are looking into a winter deal for him, but Sir Jim Ratcliffe could play a big role in bringing the centre-back to Old Trafford before the end of the month.

Ratcliffe is also the owner of Nice. If the Premier League approve his minority stake at United by late January, United could sign Todibo on loan with an obligatory buy clause.
